Congrats!! TNY is bucket list for sure. And if it makes you feel any better, I also feel like a bit of an imposter in this industry. No matter how many bylines or book deals I accrue, I’ve never had a staff job or worked in a newsroom (not for lack of trying) and I did a career switch at 30–I went to school for mental health counseling and worked as a social worker before becoming a writer. You should be proud of everything you’ve accomplished—you’re damn good at this.
Interesting that you consider print ephemeral and the internet forever when it’s usually vice versa. I just read your piece in the magazine and really enjoyed it. Congrats on the milestone.
I also really related to this: “many of the people I respect as writers and critics and journalists have been doing this since college, and I always feel more than a little behind and feeling the need to sprint and catch up.”
I do feel this need to catch up (as a reader, writer, etc) and it often feels quite intimidating—it’s a huge relief to see writers I respect articulating the same anxieties
Great piece, Teddy - and huge congrats!! 🙌
Thank you brother

Ugh Frankie thank you so much. This means a lot.
Congrats! The Glambot is fun, and the guy in the videos always seems like such a character
Thanks Naomi!

congratulations! I read the piece on my phone, enjoyed it, then scrolled back up to the byline and was delighted to see your name
(also, really loved your earlier techno piece and have sent it to many people!)
